Accessible website for everyone

Accessibility Statement

National Maritime College is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Whilst we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.

Here are some of the items we have addressed to make sure our site is easy to use:

  • Provided alternative text for all images, illustrations and other non-text content, to ensure that they can be understood by users who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers.
  • Ensured that all forms, buttons, and interactive elements are clearly labelled and easy to use so that users can easily complete tasks on our website.
  • Provided clear and consistent navigation so that users can easily find the information they need and understand how to use our website.
  • Enabled keyboard navigation for users who prefer not to use a mouse.
  • We’re consistent in the way the site has been built so that once you understand how our menu and pages work, you can count on the site to be consistent and function the same way every time you interact with them.

Consistently Looking for Improvements in Performance, Speed and Accessibility

We welcome suggestions and ideas to make our site more accessible for users. If you are having difficulty accessing our site, please reach out to us. Call 1300 723 112 or send us an email.
