Disposing of Expired Flares
Most
flares have a use-by date of three years, and must be replaced before
the expiry date. The flares contain explosive matter, leading to
difficulties for safe and legal disposal.
Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) maintain a list of flare disposal locations where you can drop off your expired flares. This provides the boating community with an opportunity to safely dispose of their out of date flares.
Regularly check that your marine flares to make sure they have not expired.
